The travel has officially begun. I am writing this log entry from scenic Hanau am Main, my dad's old home town in Germany. These German keyboards are really screwed up and who knew English had so many 'y's in it? Anyway, I got up at 0800 EDT today and it's about 0400 EDT now so we'll see how much longer I last. I still have to make it to Munich today, but really all that requires is getting a ticket and getting on the train. I took some pictures of the local sights, Schloss Phillipsruh and so forth, but I don't know if I can upload them. Maybe I'll work on that in Munich when I have more time.

I am sick.

I can't believe it - I haven't even gotten to the third world and I'm already sick! I have a nasty cold given to my by my friend Glen. Probably he was suffering from separation anxiety and didn't want me to go but little did he know I have a bottle of Anthrax-strength Ciproflaxin in my backpack for just this sort of litte emergency!

I am sick, but I am largely packed. I put much if not most of my remaining stuff in boxes today and shipped them out to my friend Carl's attic. Well, to his basement until some chinese guys finish his attic but it's the thought that counts. Still, when I look around my room it's dismayingly full of stuff. I think I will buy another plastic crate tomorrow to put my computer and its accessories into, and maybe I'll leave that in my car, since I don't know if I'll have time to give it to anybody.

I watched the Matrix Reloaded tonight, on DVD (it was better the second time) and tomorrow I will see the new movie. And I'll buy some bacteria-resistant underwear. Oh and get some damned travellers' checks! At least I finally got that money belt and power adapter today, despite the dearth of travel stores in the vicinity of death's door where I spent most of the day.

Friday morning at 5:30 AM I will be in lovely Frankfurt, Germany. The adventure is rapidly turning into a reality!
